Obituary for Charles Allen Jones

Charles Allen Jones, 69, was born on November 6, 1949 to the parents of Charles Allen and Bernice N. (Stringer) Majority in Butler County, Arkansas. Mr. Jones was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 17, 2018, in Baldwin City, Kansas. Charles is preceded in death by both his parents and his grandparents.

Charles loved and adored his family, especially spending time and caring for them. He loved Blues music and had an eye for fashion – in particular, hats and shoes. Charles was an avid traveler beginning as a teenager, which his older sister recalls. He traveled the USA – from Kansas, to Michigan, to Las Vegas and many other states throughout his life. He even moved to Michigan for several months to care for his older sister, Ethel. It wasn’t until the last few years that he slowed down due to his health. Even while receiving a new kidney, he didn’t let his health challenges keep him from traveling about.

Along with traveling, Charles was passionate promoting single artists and big band groups. Wherever there was an opportunity for his artists and bands to perform, he was sure to get them in front of an audience. In his final working days, Charles was a transport driver for Brandon Woods at Alvamar, a senior living and nursing community in Lawrence, Kansas until his health began to decline and was unable to work.

He leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, Henry Lee Underwood (Memphis, TN), Richard Jones (Topeka, KS), Samuel Jones (Kansas City, KS); two sisters, Ethel M. Artis (Lansing, MI) and Edna Jones (Topeka, KS) and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
