James Douglas Dean, 66, passed away in his home on Saturday June 2, 2018.

He was born September 10, 1951 in Delta City, Mississippi. The son of Rev. Murvin Dean and Rebecca Dean. He is preceded in death by his parents, father, Reverend Murvin Dean; mother, Rebecca Dean; his son, James "JJ" Kinney; grandson, Shawntez Kinney; brother, Anderson Dean, and significant other, Peggy Payne.

Survivors include his daughters, Rebecca Atkins (Colorado), and Melissa (Eric Sr.) Patterson (Topeka, Kansas), Leighloni Galloway-Kinney also of (Topeka, Kansas); two brothers, Herbert Dean (Charlotte, NC), Murvin Jr. (Texarkana, AK); 6 sisters, Janice Trotter (San Antonio, TX), Wanda Austin (Houston, TX), Mattie Neely (Lawrence, KS), Myrtis Edwards (St. Louis, MO), Teresia Garrett (Olathe, KS), and Ethel Hundley (Lee Summit, MO); 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews.
