Walter “Butch” Mansfield Johnson

Walter “Butch” Mansfield Johnson was born May 17, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Walter Johnson was educated in the Topeka Public Schools system and graduated from Highland Park High School. He retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas in 2013 and was presently employed at the Celtic Fox in Topeka. He was also the owner of the Golden Clipper and a barber at Stuff’s Hair Salon, Topeka.

Walter was a life long member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was a part of the men’s chorus. He was a member of the Elks Lodge; the American Legion; past Master of the Masonic Euclid Lodge, #2; 33rd Degree Mason in Kaw Valley District 16; and past Potentate of the Oasis Shrine Temple, #29.

Walter was a life long fan of the Los Angeles Raiders and enjoyed watching them play.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Henry Bunch, Sr. and Katherine Nichols Bunch; a step-sister, Roxanne A. Bunch – Shepard; a step-brother, Eugene Henry Bunch, Jr.; and a nephew, Walter Lee Emerson.
He is survived by his aunt, Alice Lee; his nephew, Michael E.(LaVonne) Meadows; a great niece and two great nephews.
