Condolence: I'm so sorry for the loss of Barb. I had the honor and privilege of working with her at Avondale East. I quickly learned what a kind soul she was and of her love and commitment to the children that she served each and every day. I valued her friendship. She was one of a kind and will be missed by many. I remember her always saying, "the children will do exactly as we expect them to" and she was right every time.

Condolence: I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Gatewood. I was a 5th grade student of hers at Avondale East many years ago. Mrs. Gatewood was one of a handful of teachers I had that made a real impact on me. She made you learn to be a respectful person along with learning school work. I didnt fully appreciate it at the time but I'm glad to have had her for a teacher. I remember her love for her family, particularly her son, Raul and the wonderful stories she would tell of her life in Louisiana. Blessings to all of her family.

Condolence: I had the privilege of teaching with Barbara from 1985 until her retirement. I always admired how she could get her students to be interested in learning and want to come to school in a neighborhood where learning wasn't always a high priority with some. She was respected by her students, their parents and her colleagues. My heart is sad for the loss of this great lady to the community. My deepest condolences to her family. My condolences to you in the loss of dear Barbara. I am so sorry to learn that this wonderful Lady has been called to her Heavenly Home. She was one of the greatest teachers I have ever known and a glorious inspiration to every child and every coworker blessed by her presence. Although I will forever give thanks Barbara Gatewood was. permitted to serve our Topeka children and community so long and so faithfully, I mourn her passing and I pray to GOD He Grant comfort and HIS love for Barbara's Family and Friends.
