Obituary for Johnny Ray Maxwell

Johnny Ray  Maxwell
Johnny Ray Maxwell passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 in Wichita, Kansas. The son of Alfonzo and Pauline Chapman Maxwell. Johnny was born on December 30, 1954 in Topeka, Kansas. He was the youngest born to this union. Raised in North Topeka, he was a member of Second Baptist Church.

On August 1, 1981, Johnny married Barbara Ann Swopes. To this union, three children were born. Johnny and his wife raised their children and resided in Wichita, Kansas for 37 years. Johnny worked for and retired from Cessna as a CNC machinist's programmer and associate engineer. He later started his own machine shop, Aero Dynamics, where he designed and manufactured airplane parts. He loved cars and had many hobbies such as collecting model cars and tinkering with toys and gadgets. He also had a passion for computers, computer aided drawings and technology. He was also a member of Make ICT which is an Open Machine Shop to members where he would design speakers with advanced audio. Johnny had a love for planes, birds, hats and music especially guitars. He was a jack of all trades.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfonzo Maxwell; his mother, Pauline Chapman Maxwell; his brothers, Larry Maxwell, Joseph Maxwell, Al Maxwell and one sister, Yvonne Vick.

Left to cherish Johnny's memory is his wife of 36 years, Barbara Ann Swopes Maxwell (Wichita, KS); two sons, Joshua Ray Maxwell (Wichita, KS) Michael Ray Maxwell (Wichita, KS); two daughters, Brittany Maxwell (Wichita, KS) and Cecelia (Carl) Greene-Miles (Aurora, CO); his sister, Barbara Porter (Memphis, TN) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and lifelong friends.
