Ja-meece Wilkins was born September 20, 1989 and lost her courageous battle with sickle-cell anemia on August 12, 2017. Ja-meece was an avid reader, she could read complete novels in a day, her favorite restaurant was Golden Dragon. As a young adult Ja-meece grew to love entertaining and even though she was a strict vegetarian she enjoyed preparing meat dishes for her friends and relatives as well as trying her hand at bartending by mixing exotic drinks and coming up with her own drink creations. Ja-meece attended Highland Park Central Elementary School, Jardine Junior High School, and graduated from Topeka West High School. She attended Washburn Tech where she studied culinary arts and medical coding. After graduating, Ja-meece worked at St. Francis Hospital in medical coding. She worked at Mr. Goodcents for two years and the Kwik Shop for four years until her health failed. Ja-meece will be remembered for having a strong personality that made her stand apart from the crowd, a big smile and an even bigger heart. Ja-Meece was preceded in death by her mother, Tressa R. Phelps; grandmothers, Shirley Wells-Stanley, and Dollie Smith; grandfathers, Oscar Wilkins and Delbert Robbins; a brother, Trayon Wilkins; five uncles, Charles Wilkins, Stanley Wells, Garrett Robbins, Charles Webber, and Cecil Webber. Ja-Meece is survived by her daughters, Laneeiah Wilkins and Tressa Carter/Wilkins; her fiancé, Chris Carter; father, Bryce Wilkins; grandmothers, Toni Ann Wilkins and Earlene Henderson; grandfather, Fred Phelps, and brothers, Emillio (Ashley) Elliott, Bryce (Alexandria) Wilkins II, Quwayshjon Wilkins, LaKeith (Myia) Wilkins, and Jachai Wilkins all of Topeka, Kansas; sisters, Daysean Phelps, Ieasha Wilkins, Reahjuana Jones, Joann Jackson, Sonya Wilkins all of Topeka, Kansas, Deishian Dudley, of Kansas City, Missouri and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
