Obituary for David Gilmore

David Gilmore, age 63, was born May 8, 1951 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. He was the son of J.T. Gilmore and Mary Lee Lucas Gilmore. He is preceded in death by his father, J.T. Gilmore.

David enlisted in the United States Army, May 12, 1971 and was honorably discharged on February 23, 1973. While in the Army, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He relocated from Chicago, Illinois to Topeka 27 years ago.

David enjoyed playing pool, fishing and when he was in high school, he enjoyed swimming.

David passed away on January 13, 2015 at Midland Hospice. He is survived by his children, son, David Culpepper and on e daughter in Korea. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Lee Gilmore; brothers, Ricky Gilmore, Nate Gilmore and Dennis Gilmore, all of Mississippi; sisters, Shirley Gilmore of Mississippi, Frankie and Mary Gilmore, both of Chicago, Illinois; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; his lifelong companion, Lissie Purnell and a host of other relatives and friends.
