Obituary for Romie Hebrew Scales III

Romie H. Scales III passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Midland Hospice Care. He was born January 9, 1957 in Karlsruhe, West Germany, the son of Romie H., Jr. and Elli E. Scales.

Romie, being an Army “Brat”, not only attended public schools in Topeka, but also, in Germany, Georgia, and San Francisco. He attended Washburn University and started working in the sales field. In the late 1970’s, Romie founded and was co-owner/operator of Bedrooms Specialty Inc., a waterbed furniture store operating in Manhattan, KS. After this adventure, Romie worked as a salesman for CMC Stereo in Topeka, achieving salesman of the year status, and in Independence, MO, and was promoted to work at the headquarters in Houston, TX. While in Houston, Romie also began working extensively in auto repair and home remodeling. He continued this line of work being self employed when returning in the mid 80’s to Topeka and until his recent death. Romie enjoyed playing pool, fishing, cooking, family and friend gatherings, had a passion for traveling, playing his bongo and singing to his favorite songs.

Romie is preceded in death by his parents and a son Anthony Stapleton. His survivors include a son, Michael Muñoz (Raquel), granddaughters Valencia Garcia and Reina Garcia, and grandson Santana Muñoz; a brother, Charles (Utika) Scales; 2 sisters, Margarete (Carl) Dudley and Beverly Scales all of Topeka, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
