The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Mattie Johnson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Mattie, my college Mom, friend and sister

I met Mattie as a Freshmen and new pledge to DG. She was so kind to me, but I did have to behave and follow the rules! I loved to spend time with her and vividly remember just hugging her everyday!!! She also lovingly teased me which I got a kick out of! She drove me to the hospital to see my Aunt as I didn't have a car. I knew in my heart that she would do anything for me. After 4 years in the house, Bill and I became the first houseparents. We had no idea what we were doing and would have been lost without her. She spoiled Bill rotten for two years!!! My college experience was so positive in large part to Mattie!! I could write a book about the love and comfort she gave me. I will never cease to be grateful that she was part of my life. I love her and look forward to seeing her again for all eternity.
