Obituary for Richard Allen "Quiet Man" Bass

Richard was born on December 20,1942, the son of Richard Lee Bass and Mary G. Cunningham Bass. He spent most of his life in Topeka attending Topeka Public Schools and graduating from Topeka High School in 1961. Richard enlisted in the United States Army on April 1,1964 and received an honorable discharge February 27,1970. He was employed with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company 40 years in various positions, until retiring in July 2002. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local 307.

Richard met Carliese Fields Keeling in August of 1981. They married on November 25, 1988, which they would have celebrated 30 years of marriage this year.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Dr. Cheryl L. Fields MBA, Ph.D, granddaughter Brittany M. Dinkins, sister Nadine Lewis and brother William Cunningham.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife Carliese Bass of the home, sons, Richard Anthony Bass( Dallas,TX), Rahn (JoAnne) Jeffrey Bass (Biloxi, MS, Kessler Air Base); granddaughters Shardae Lyons (Topeka, KS), Jada and Jazmyn Bass, (Biloxi, MS); great grandchildren, Alesi, Kamiya and Zavion Lyons (Topeka, KS) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, friends and wonderful neighbors.
