Darnell "D-Row" Benton was born on Monday, March 17, 1980 to Delbert Benton and Janice G. Jones in Topeka, KS. Darnell passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018 in Topeka, KS.

He was a resident of Topeka all his life and attended Topeka Public Schools and completed his GED. Furthering his education in college taking courses in welding, sheet metal and electrical technology. Darnell was baptized at East Eight Street Baptist Church where he was a active member throughout his childhood.

He as an energetic overall happy person who loved spending time with his family, listening to music, writing poetry, playing chess, going to the casino, reading and taking care of his puppies. Darnell will always be remembered for his hysterical laughter and contagious smile. His favorite color was blue.

Darnell was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Benton and his brother, Adam Benton.

Left to cherish his memory, his mother, Janice Jones (Topeka, KS); son, Donte Benton (Topeka, KS); daughter, Kinell L. Benton (Topeka, KS); siblings, Salatha M. Jones (Kansas City, MO), Barry (Narissa) Jones (Kansas City, MO), Delbert Benton Jr. (Beaumont, TX), Steven (Da' Renda), Benton Sr. (Beaumont, TX), Jacquelyn (Anthony) Tompkins (Beaumont, TX); special friend, Angel Tevebaugh (Wamego, KS) and a host of extended family including aunts, uncles, in-laws, nephews, nieces and cousins who loved him more than he knew.
