Obituary for Albert Winston Sr.

Albert Winston Sr.
Albert Winston Sr. was born on December 5, 1956 in Tamo, Arkansas to Frank Winston and Letha Mae Boykins (Curry).
After making the decision to relocate, Mr. Winston’s family established residence in Topeka, Kansas in 1969.
Albert received his education through the Topeka Public School Systems. He became a graduate of Highland Park High School upon earning his high school diploma in 1975.

Albert expressed a faith in God and would attend services with family at Emmanuel Temple COGIC. Mr. Winston willingly assisted the church and its members with countless projects over the years.

Mr. Winston engaged in various areas of employment throughout his life. Because he was responsible, dependable and trustworthy, Albert was always held in high regards as a valued employee. Upon gaining employment with Blanche’s New and Used Housewares, Mr. Winston discovered he had a knack for moving and selling items. He worked diligently as a sales associate and remained employed with the company until the business closed its doors. Regardless of the job, Albert always worked hard and could be counted on to complete the task.

Mr. Winston was always surrounded by his family and friends whom he loved deeply. Although he possessed a calm and quiet demeanor, Albert loved to fill everyone around him with joy by laughing and chiming in on jokes. One would continually find him providing others help with moving from or into a residence, mowing a lawn or helping with any type of domestic repairs. Albert loved kids, especially his children. He played an influential parental role in the upbringing of their siblings, LaKisha and Glenn Pullen, raising them as his own. He was also present to provide parental guidance in the lives of Doshia, Doreen (aka Nikki) and Sheldon Woods. He was always around to lend a helping hand and was constantly on the move. You could always count on seeing a smile on his face.

Albert was preceded in death by his grandparents, Reddick and Frankie Boykins, his father, Frank Winston and brothers Lucious Breamsy and Larry “Buck" Curry.

Mr. Winston leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Letha Mae Curry; sons, Albert Winston Jr. and Romel Winston; sisters, Olivia (Jessie) Ailsworth , Frankie B. Huggins, Doris Johnson, Barbara Dickens and Jeanetta (John) Jones; brothers, Eddie Williams, James (Leslie) Breamsy, Roger (Yolanda) Boykins , Johnny Curry, Michael Winston and Robert Winston, 4 aunts, 2 uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
