Obituary for Donald Irving "Jick" Fowler (Fowler) Sr.

Donald Irving Fowler Sr. entered this life on January 19, 1931 in Tonganoxie, KS and departed on March 18, 2018 at his home in Lawrence, KS. He was born to Amezire and Sadie Fowler.

Donald received his early education in Kansas City, Missouri. He was employed by the United States Navy and retired after 21 years of service. After his time in the service, he worked at FMC Corp, in Lawrence, Kansas and eventually retired from a job at Fort Leavenworth on the Army base.

Don "Jick" loved his family and friends. He enjoyed tinkering around the yard and house, working on automobiles, small engines, and repairing old watches. He loved hunting and fishing with family. You could find him in his backyard listening to Royals baseball while enjoying competitive games of dominoes and cards. He enjoyed all types of music but especially the Blues.

He was predeceased by his parents, Amezire Lee and Sadie Fowler; his sons, Ryan E. Fowler and Ron S. Fowler Sr.; his brothers, Amezire Fowler Jr., Alfred Fowler, Archie Fowler, Johnny Fowler Sr., Lloyd Fowler, and Harold Fowler; his ex-wife, Alice R. Fowler and is widower to Elnora L. Fowler.

Don is survived by his brother, Rev. Paul E. Fowler Sr. (Kansas City, MO); his sons, Donald I. Fowler Jr. (Lawrence, KS), Earl E. (Lisa) Fowler (Missouri City, TX) and his daughter, Donetta Fowler Foster (Lawrence, KS). His memory will be cherished by his beloved children, countless nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
