Obituary for Kay Johnnie Fowler Jr.

Mr. Kay Johnny Fowler Jr. was born on July 6, 1952 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Kay Johnny Fowler Sr. and Clara Hellene Kimball Friend. Mr. Fowler passed away on February 17, 2018 while in care at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas.

Kay was a graduate of Lawrence High School in Lawrence, Kansas and later attended Washburn University. He would later become father to three sons, Johnny III, Bradley and DeAngelo.

Kay had a passion for sports. His favorite teams were the Kansas City Chiefs and KU Jayhawks. He was an avid collector of their memorabilia. Kay was employed at various nursing homes and restaurants as a cook until his health prevented him from working further.

Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by his father, Kay Johnnie Fowler Sr; his paternal grandparents, Sadie and Amizere Fowler; his maternal grandparents, Harold and Evelyn Kimball and great-grandmother, Sarah Leaper.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Clara Kimball Friend (Topeka, KS); his sons, Kay Johnny III (Chicago, IL), DeAngelo (Topeka, KS) and Bradley (Topeka, KS); his sister, Jacqueline Gaither (Great Falls, SC); his uncle, Carrol Kimball (Lawrence, KS); his aunts, Freida Green and Carolyn Kimball, both of Lawrence, KS; two grandchildren; his companion, Carolyn Williams (Topeka, KS) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
