Condolence: I'll describe Marvin as one of the original members of the Parkwood Park boys of Kansas City, Kansas. I can go back to when we got on our bikes and rode just a couple of miles to get broken but still good cookies from the Sunshine Biscuit factory. They cost $0.50 cents for a large bag. And the many times we played whatever sport in the park or on an available hoop. Marvin was a kind heart. I'm proud to be able to call him my friend. Much respect.

Condolence: Coach Bailey, to Mrs. Bailey and Marcus, thank you for sharing this great man with me and allowing him to be father figure to a young man. Coach Bailey taught me more than basketball and football but he taught me about life. Coach Bailey thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love you showed me thank you for being a part of my life. Rest well Coach......

Condolence: You will be miss Coach Bailey by all the children you have touch through the Boys and Girls club that you have giving up some much of your time too. As A friend and you as my mentor you have share so much of your life with us. You will surely be miss, rest in Peace.

Condolence: Where do I start. Marvin was a friend. I met him several years ago. His gentle kindness was something special. Always a kind and caring word he had. I will remember the times I’d run into him while he would be visiting Ted. He would always ask how my family was and he would share the food he had brought which was always more than enough for anyone that would happen to stop by Ted’s. Cynthia I’m so glad to have met you and I knew you were special because Marv was. He’s gone too soon but will leave memories of a lifetime. May God comfort you during this time of sorrow. Condolence: To the Family, I met Brother MB (Gotcha Back, Bailey in 1970 as a Freshman at WU. He and I Would Pledge the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity with Ten other young men. He and I were the only 2 to cross the BURNING SANDS of Omega. We have been Life Long Brothers every sense. We shared some extreme highs as young Collegians, young African American Male Athletes (Marvin because of his athletic prowess was know as "BOOM BOOM, Quick as a CAT" Bailey), and some very bad lows that caused him to fight against Racial Profiling. As a direct result Bro. Bailey dedicated his life to helping young men in general and the underprivileged in particular traverse the challenges of growing up in Topeka. He was/is My BROTHER, all of my Kids know him as Uncle Marvin. Marvin and My wife Renita (they did not know it) shared the same Birthday, both loved coffee and every Super Bowl would share the First and Last Cup of Coffee, before and after the game. She will always brew and Save the first and last cup for him. Rest on my Brother RQQ', RQQ !!!

Condolence: Coach Bailey will be miss by the whole Topeka community, both children and parents. Thank you dor serving our community.

Condolence: I have known Marvin for the past six years. He would come in once or twice a week to my place of work. Every time I would see him he would ask how I was and just make small talk. I work over night and Marvin and I had a started a little joke about what I would eat before I came to work. Since I worked graveyard shift I would eat breakfast food when everyone else would be eating dinner food. Marvin would always ask me what I ate for breakfast. Most of the time I would just have a bowl of cereal and he thought it was so funny. He would even ask what kind of cereal I had, to the point he was able to guess which brand. It became known to him my favorite cereal was "Lucky Charms". One night he brought me a grocery sack with a couple boxes of Lucky Charms! He was such a generous and kind hearted man. He had a great sense of humor as well. Marvin, we sang the blues for you tonight in Uncle Bo's, you will be greatly missed.

Condolence: It was always a pleasure to talk music with Marvin after a show at Uncle Bo's. He always had time for a chat with Amanda or myself as he was leaving at the end of the night. We already miss him Heart felt condolences to his family

Condolence: When we arrived at Uncle Bo's tonight, (Fri.); Suki sadly told us Marvin has passed on. Zac Harmon & his Band dedicated the song, "Knockin on Heaven's Door" to Marvin. All of us "regulars" will remember him, always sitting quietly, at his regular spot and we'll miss him, but not forget him. May God keep his family in his loving embrace.

Condolence: In the 3rd grade, I started going to the Boys Club, and that is when I met Coach Bailey. He was my 1st coach, and I can honestly say that he taught me and all of the boys at the Boys Club, about life, as well as sports. He took an interest in us and challenged us to be the best we could be in school, sports, and most of all, character. Coach Bailey set an example for us, on how to be successful in life. He treated coaching like it was a ministry. I can honestly say that he filled a void for so many young men who grew up without their fathers. I am thankful to God that Coach Bailey was a part of my life, and I am forever grateful for the deposits that he made to help me in life. Condolence: It was my pleasure to have briefly know the gentle soul, Marvin Bailey. To family and friends, may you find peace during this time of transition in the fond and cherished memories of his presence with you and others. He will be missed but not forgotten by those that knew and loved him.

Condolence: I only came to know Officer Marvin Bailey, in 2008 while working with him. He came to hold a special place in my heart. I enjoyed visiting with him, he always made me smile, and was a kind soul. He never had a mean word to say about anyone. I am sad to hear of him leaving us, but know he is in Heaven, and hope to see him there when my time comes. Condolence: To the Bailey family: I was so saddened to hear of Lonnie's passing. I fondly remember those times on Kimball Avenue playing, riding bikes, etc. Seems like a lifetime ago. I moved away; lost touch. But want you all to know for sure that "earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal". Also remember that "weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." He crossed over from a land of the dying and entered into the land of the living. My thoughts and prayers are and will be with you now and in the days to come. May God give you comfort and peace that passes all understanding.
