We all remember having to be in the yard or on the porch when the street lights came on. Well, one night, Lonnie was on our steps talking to me and my grandmother. The lights came on and he was still there. Miss Johnnie Mae sent June Bug (James) down to get Lonnie. June Bug ended up staying and talking as well. Now I'm thinking to myself, "yall gonna get in trouble". A few minutes later, here comes Miss Johnnie Mae down the street with this great big, LONG switch. She spoke to my grandmother and me and proceeded to tell us she sent June Bug to get Lonnie and neither one of them came on back home. She said, "excuse me, Ms. Yancy, but they being hard-headed." The switch began to swing! It was on and poppin'! Lonnie jumped on his bike and was trying to ride and duck the blows from the switch. June Bug was trying to dodge the switch as well! I laughed 'til I cried! It was so funny watching these two dudes trying to dodge "the switch"!
I can't remember some things that happened yesterday, but I remember that as if it was yesterday. LOL!
Take your rest, Lonnie!
