Obituary for Coulee Holman Sr.
Coulee Holman Sr., a son of the late Calvin and Wilma Holman was born March 2, 1939 in Berksville, Kentucky.
Coulee attended school in Fountain Run, KY. After, leaving Kentucky Coulee began his career in the US Air Force in 1957 which allowed him to travel the United States. While, in the Air Force Coulee held several positions of increasing responsibility in food service, working his way to become a Senior Master Sergeant before retiring after 27 years of service in 1984. Upon leaving the military Coulee continued to work at the Boys and the Girls School of Indiana before moving to Kansas. After moving to Kansas he was employed at the Topeka Juvenile Correctional Facility for 14 years.
Coulee loved family first! He was an avid gardener, but his prize possession was his roses (these roses adorned his home throughout the summer). Along with watching and feeding the birds. He loved being outside working in the yard. Coulee loved to show off his cooking skills, he enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, fishing and shooting pool. Always willing to help someone. (anyone)
Coulee was preceded in death by his father Calvin H. Holman, mother Wilma Holman, brothers James Holman, Shirley Holman, Carl Holman, Jimmy Holman, David Holman, sisters Stella Slaughter, Opal Holman.
Left to cherish his memory his wife Marvell J. Holman (Topeka, KS); sons, Coulee Holman Jr. (Haltom City, TX), Brannon (La'Thashia) Smith (Topeka, KS); daughters, Erika Enge (Corona, CA), Shalicia Richards (Indianapolis, IN), Jaumonica (Undra) Mock (Midlothian, TX), Jaunetta (Marcus) Smith (Atlanta, GA); brothers, Claude (Sandy) Holman (Southfield, MI), Billy Holman (Detroit, MI); sisters, Francis Kirk (Fountain Run, KY), Nina Dean Holman (Glasgow, KY) Cathy (Ernest) Maxey (Tompkinsville, KY), Robbie (Terry) Foust (Camby, IN), Wilma (Jeff) Jones (Indianapolis, IN); six grandchildren, extended family Rosemary (Larry) Wynn and a host of other family and friends.
