Earlean Lawrence was born in Sherrill, Arkansas to the proud parents of Clark Lawrence and Mattie Holmes-Huggins. She was the third child of eleven children.

Earlean attended Sherrill Arkansas Public Schools and later moved to Topeka, Kansas in 1960.

She was employed with Howard Johnson Motel in her earlier years. She was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. In her spare time, she loved to fish, play bingo and was a good cook. She loved children and was proud to raise two of her great-nieces.

Earlean was preceded in death by her father, Clark Lawrence; mother, Matty Holmes Huggins; husband, Freeman Nelson; two brothers, Robert Huggins Jr. and Maurice Huggins; two sisters, Geraldine Thompson and Barbara Young.

Earlean is survived by her brothers, Cleven (Mary) Huggins (Topeka, KS), Louis Huggins (Nebraska), Larry Huggins (Topeka, KS); sisters, Bernice McKnight (Topeka, KS), Betty Huggins (Topeka, KS), Flora Jean Huggins (Topeka, KS), Evelyn (John) Goodman (Chicago, IL), Clara Jones (Memphis, TN); special nieces, Renee Anderson, Phylissa Johnson and a host of nieces and nephews.
