Condolence: My name is Abdallah Umar Muhammad and I now reside in the Gambia, West Afrika. I was born with the slave name of Ernest Levell Mays in Topeka, Kansas and attended Washington Elementary School from kindergarten to 9th grade with the late Shelley Douglas Wilder. I knew her personally and even communicated with her a few times after my family moved to the State of Illinois in the mid 19660's and afterwards. May Allah Subhana Wa-Ta-Ala bless her soul!!!

Condolence: To the Douglas Wilder Families: I am heartbroken to learn of Shelley’s transition. The older Bell siblings started playing with Shelley as neighborhood children when I was in kindergarten at Washington Elementary School. As time went progressed my sister Gloria and I became sisters by LOVE with Shelley. I always admired and respected Shelley for sharing her life, her parents and grandparents with us unselfishly. We could be seen tagging along at baseball games, trips to the library and fire house to visit Joe, including church. We’d sit around the piano singing while Mrs. Douglas and/or Shelley played, playing chess, listening to music, talking about life situations and how to make better decisions and wiser choices. I thank God for Shelley’s beautiful soul and we will forever be SISTERS BY LOVE thru all eternity.

Condolence: My deepest sympathy to each of you . Thou your hearts are filled with grief, take comfort in knowing that our heavenly Father knows that this a  difficult time for you. He assures us that he will soon wipe away those tears of sorrow from our eyes forever and death will do no more. Revelation 21:3-5 John 5:28,29

Condolence: I worked with Shelley for several years at Westar Energy. I loved her "get straight to the point" attitude! She stood firmly for what she believed was right, and I admired her for that. Condolences to all the family, I am sure she will be greatly missed.

Condolence: To Shelley's Family: I am so sorry for you loss, I worked with her many years at Westar Energy and always enjoyed visiting with her. She dearly loved her family and I know she will be deeply missed by all.

Condolence: To the Family of Shelley Wilder: I worked with Shelley for a long time at Westar Energy. I met Shelley in 1996 at my first job here at Westar. Her last 4 years before retiring I was blessed to have her sit in the office beside me at the Topeka GO on 5th Floor. Shelley had a great sense of humor and laugh. She was always engaging and she helped people around her be successful. Shelley will be missed. My thought and prayers are with her family. God Bless.

I have only met your dearest Shelley a few times, however, it was very evident that she is the perfect combination of you--two very dear friends of the Elder Family. Condolence: I have known Shelley Douglas - Wilder since 1956 when we all attended Washington Elementary School here in Topeka, Ks. Washington was one of the four predominately African - American Elementary Schools in the capital city at the time. Shelley was known for her warm smile, and sparkling eyes - especially if she was up to doing something naughty. Shelley and my sister Sharon were good friends back in the day, and Shelley's picture from that time period can be seen at the Brown v Board Museum building. Shelley was a very good athlete and a good childhood friend. She will be missed. My condolences to her family members.

Condolence: I am at a complete loss for words. This woman walked on water in my eyes. I worked with her from Wichita on the property damages. She was a force that you didn't want to mess with because she would win and be right also. I loved her so much. I stayed in contact with her since she retired. She bragged on her kids and grandkids. I am so sorry for your lose of a great woman, Mom, Grandma and daughter. May God lay his hands on you during this time.
