Obituary for Naoma Lucille Davis (Everett)

Naoma Lucille Davis (Everett)
The sun rose on September 20, 1936 when Naoma L. Everett was born to John L. Everett and Marian L. Everett of Topeka, Kansas where Naoma was born and raised.

Naoma attended and graduated from Topeka Public Schools. She later obtained her certification as a Mental Health Technician at the Menninger Foundation. Naoma maintained employment at the Menninger Foundation for more than 20 years, eventually relocating to Kansas City, Missouri. While living in Kansas City, she was employed as an Alcohol and Drug Treatment counselor at the NARA Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center for over 15 years. It is during her initial years, while residing in Kansas City, Missouri she met, fell in love and married the Rev. John E. Davis.

During her residency in Kansas City, Naoma was an active member of the Westminster Baptist Church, serving 26 years as an usher, greeter, and mentor in the Young People's Department. She was passionate about spreading the gospel of the Kingdom of God in Kansas City. Naoma was a current member of New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church and a former member of St. John AME Church.

Naoma loved to travel and provide care for others. She was confident in her creator; she knew her worth was found at the foot of the cross, where Jesus made us all worthy. She girded her loins with strength, and strengthened her arms by carrying children, building her family and the families of others .

Always willing to lend a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on, Naoma served her husband and provided herself selflessly to her extended family and friends. While she had no children of her own, Naoma adored and pampered her very special fur baby, Pepper! Pepper was her faithful and mischievous puppy-dog! Her younger siblings, nieces, nephews and friends all became her prized and precious children. She never compared herself to others; she knew God has a unique plan for every life. She appreciated and worshiped with her home church and other ministries, authentically celebrating the victories whether big or small in the lives of everyone around her.

She was elegant in her voice, movement, and body language, manner of speech, the way she sat, and how she responded to others. She was a loving and nurturing woman, with a joyful and genuine heart for the well-being of others, helping when and where she saw a need. She delighted in building her home and serving her husband. Naoma embraced all the personal attributes God gave her and she did so happily! Naoma was bestowed her wings on April 30, 2017 and has gone to her heavenly home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Reverend John E. Davis; step-son, Pat Davis; five grandsons; brother, Darl E. Everett, Sr.; sisters, Delilah Lynn (Rev. Russell) Teague, Reverend Mary Frances (Ronald, Sr.) Neal along with a host of nieces, nephews, and a multitude of extremely valued friends whom she dearly loved.
