Obituary for Priscilla Andring Humphrey (Humphrey)

Priscilla Andring Humphrey (Humphrey)
Priscilla Andring Humphrey was born August 5, 1963 to Dallas Emerson Humphrey, Sr. and Sarah Mattie Raynor Humphrey. She was the fourth oldest of six children.

Priscilla graduated from Westport High School in Kansas City, Mo. She then received her Bachelor of Arts from Washburn University. After graduating, she continued her schooling, obtaining her master's degree in Liberal Studies from Washburn University.

In 1984, Priscilla became a mother to her only child, Brandon, whom she cherished with all her heart - a heart big enough for the whole world. She served many years at the Battered Women's Task Force of Topeka, Kansas as an advocate for women's empowerment and the uplifting of the oppressed. She met and formed relationships with many women who were facing trials and adversity. With first-hand experience, she loved, encouraged and shed light upon many in their times of darkness and need. Priscilla was a beautiful illustration and the epitome of overcoming struggles and challenges.

As an individual, Priscilla exhibited strength, even in her times of weakness. As a sister, she believed in the success of the team, and not just one's self. As a friend, her compassionate heart was ever-extending and her ear ever-ready to listen. As a mother, Priscilla was a wise and loving nurturer and teacher, emphasizing the importance of life lessons and obtaining understanding. As a grandmother, she was fun-loving and light-hearted, always ready to tap into her inner child while creating beautiful memories. Priscilla lived a life of passion - loving people, the outdoors, music, literature, knowledge and so much more!

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Brandon Eugene Emerson Humphrey and his wife, Jasmine, of Topeka, KS; her brother, Dallas E. (Ann) Humphrey, Jr. (NC); sisters, Olivia Humphrey (Colorado) and Nettie Humphrey (Kansas City, MO); grandchildren, Xavius Alexander Humphrey and Harmony Nicole Wraggs of Topeka, KS and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Priscilla is preceded in death by her father, Dallas E. Humphrey, Sr.; mother, Sarah Raynor Humphrey; brother, William "Bill" Humphrey and sister, Aurthurae Odette Anderson.

Priscilla sojourned in the spirit of love, strength and compassion.
