Obituary for Dwight Emerson "Jim" Neal Jr.

Dwight Emerson "Jim" Neal Jr.
Dwight Emerson Neal, Jr. affectionately known as “Jim” entered into this world on March 23, 1967 in Topeka, Kansas to the proud parents of Dwight Emerson Neal and Doris Jean Davis Neal. Jim grew up and ran the dusty streets in Pierce Addition and graduated from the Highland Park High School in 1985.

His early childhood friendships beginning at the Topeka Boys and Girls Club and the Eastlawn Community Center cultivated into many lifelong friendships lasting over 40 years. He was just that special.

Jim was such a fun loving, kind, always moving and smiling, hustling, charismatic young man. Not to mention attractive and just fine! For those who knew Jim well, knew that he loved to play pool and was a great fan of the Green Bay Packers.

He wasn’t a complainer. Always uplifting and would say “the early bird gets the worm” and would call you super early in the morning to help get your day started. He had a zest for life.

In May of 1998 Jim packed up and moved to Atlanta, Georgia to be with his big sister Tammy whom he adored. There he became an entrepreneur and owned Dwight’s Car Wash Service for several years. He was currently working stage production in Atlanta. Jim was strong and a jack of all trades.

He liked to give out advice and if he didn’t know something, you can best believe he was going to find out. Jim knew something about everything, for he was a Neal and that’s just what they do. He loved helping people.

Jim’s real passion in life was for his children. He loved his kids whether they were near or far.

Having a heart of gold, he was a giver that would give you everything he had.
You never left his house without something in your hand.

Jim accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was baptized into
the St. Luke Missionary Baptist by the Rev. Edward E. Kirtdoll. Just a few years
ago he rededicated his life back to Christ. He was taught at an early age by his
Big Momma, to love the Lord with all his heart and then to love people likewise.

On December 16, 2016 everything would change and life as we knew it would
never be the same. Jim was in a terrible car accident which caused him to slumber
into a coma in which he never returned. And on April 17, 2017 the Lord said it’s
time to bring Jim on home, the 4 month struggle is over. Jim was 50 years old. He fought a good fight. He finished his course, he kept the faith. Jim is loved by all and will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by both his parents – his mother Doris J. Neal on 9/2/1968 and his father Dwight E. Neal, Sr. on 7/1/2010. His grandparents- John Neal, Sr., Retha M. “Big Momma” Neal, and Iola “Scrap” Fort. And 1 brother – John ”Butch” Neal, Jr.

He leaves to forever cherish his memory: 6 children – D’Ambra Neal, Amanee and Amir McDavid, Karimana Matlock, Alyssia and Tyler Neal. 1 grandson – Javen Colbert. 3 sisters – Tammy Ringo (Darrin), Cheryl McFarthing (Bernard) and Ardis ‘Cookie’ Neal (Mitch). 2 brothers – Robert Neal and Mark Neal. A special nephew – Za’Kyan Neal and a special niece – Riccarda Neal Barnes, who he often gave advice to like only a father would. Along with a grand host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
