Obituary for Dorothy Mae Taylor (Riley)

Dorothy Mae Taylor (Riley)
Dorothy Mae Riley Taylor was born on October 24, 1949 in Council Grove, Kansas, the daughter of Andrew Riley and Georgia Sarah Campbell Riley.

Dorothy was a graduate of Council Grove High School. She relocated to Topeka, Kansas in the late seventies.

Dorothy loved to help people and worked many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She last worked for Country Club Health Center.

Dorothy was a devout Christian and at the time of her passing she was a member of New Life Christian Church. She enjoyed attending bible study.

Dorothy who was also affectionately known as "Doogie" loved her kids and being around family. Her other passions were her love for singing, cooking, playing cards especially Rummy and dominoes. Her favorite color was purple and her favorite song was "Life is a Ballgame." We knew when we were in trouble when we heard her say with love, "You'd rather jump in a lion's den with pork chop drawers on, than mess with me!"

Dorothy passed peacefully away on December 19, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Georgia Riley; sister, Betty L. Burk and brothers, Cordy Riley and Freddie Riley.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth F. Riley of Norton, Kansas, Michael E. (Janet) Riley of Topeka, Kansas, Martin A. Riley of Lansing, Kansas and Bobby D. (Margaret) Riley of Topeka, Kansas; daughters, Carlotta Y. Moore, twins, Forrestina M. Taylor and Renee L. Taylor all of Topeka, Kansas; brother, Richard R. Riley of Topeka, Kansas; 37 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
