Obituary for Eddie Lee Saunders

Eddie Lee  Saunders
Eddie Lee Saunders went to be with our heavenly father on Friday, October 21, 2016. Eddie was born on December 4, 1954 in Topeka, KS to Emmett L. Saunders and Myron Beaver Saunders. Eddie grew up and lived in Topeka his whole life. Eddie attended Topeka High School. Eddie served in the US Army for 3 years. While in the service he received the National Defense Service Medal. Eddie received an honorable discharge from the Army in 1975. Upon his release from the military, he went to work for the City of Topeka at the “Water Department”, where he was a member of the “Water Dogs”. Eddie worked for 40 years and retired from the water department as a water supervisor in 2015.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Myron Saunders, 3 Brothers, Bob Henderson, Leotis Henderson, and Selth Henderson. Eddie was also preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Whitlock Saunders, who passed away on September 10, 2001.
Eddie married Kim Bohannon Marney on July 14, 2005. She survives the home. Other survivors are Eugene Saunders, Hutchinson, Kansas, Terrance (LaRonna) Saunders, Overland Park and Trenice Saunders, Topeka, Kansas. Eddie had three step children, Joshua (Erika Lembke) Marney, Fort Collins, CO, Torri (Travis Christian) Marney, Holton, KS, and Heather Marney, Topeka, KS. Mother and father in law, William and Sharon Bohannon, and three sister in laws, Tammy Holiday, Loveland, CO, Denise Mead (Bruce Lister), and Jennifer Bohannon, Loveland Colorado. Eddie had four sisters, Elice Lightfoot, Columbus, Ohio, Faye Bray, Abilene, Texas, Lillie Hooks, Omaha, Nebraska and Jackie Stewart, Omaha, Nebraska, Eddie has one brother Attrell (Lisa) Henderson, Columbus, Ohio and many, many beloved nieces and nephews and cousins.
Grandchildren: Darius Saunders, Terrance Saunders II, Samara Saunders, Emari Clark, Douglas Clark, LeAndrew Clark, DayShawn Berndt, Tyrell Saunders, Nathaniel Saunders, Jazzanaya Saunders, Jermel Saunders, Marzell Saunders, Malik Saunders and Jahvon Saunders.
Eddie loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching Chiefs football, playing horseshoes, spending time with fiends, working on “project” cars, and tinkering in the garage.
Eddie was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for many years. He also served as Usher and was in the Men’s Chorus and regular Choir. Eddie loved the Lord and he loved his family.
Eddie was an amazing person and will be missed by many, his laughter, his wit and his love.
