Born June 5th, 1984, Stacy Deyonne Pledger (a.k.a. “Babygirl”) was the last of five children born to the late Rev. John A. Pledger, Sr. and Demetrius (Hunt) Pledger. Stacy was raised in Kansas City, MO. However, at age 11, she moved to Topeka, KS with family where she resided until her death. Stacy was preceded in death by her father (John A. Pledger, Sr.), grandfathers (John D. Pledger & Samuel L. Hunt, Sr.) and grandmother (Geneva Hunt). Stacy is survived by her 3 children (KenaDe, Kaeden and Keyleigh), mother (Demetrius Pledger), grandmother (Joe Pledger), sisters (Tashari Reed & Nikita Kemp), brothers (John Jr. & Tarrell Pledger), in-laws (Darrick Reed, Christopher Kemp & Shanetta Pledger), a host of nieces and nephews (Jaason, Zakeyus, Jaacob, Zohntrell, Tarrell Jr., Darrick Jr., Daniel, Josiah, Jazmyn, Alexis, Kira, Kryslin, Shekinah, Laiel, and Kymberlin), and a host of uncles and aunts (Gloria, Manessa, Mavis, Jennifer, Lemuel, Mark, Anthony, David, Samuel, George and Maurice).
Stacy confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at the early age of 11 years old. graduated from Topeka West High School and was employed with Shawnee County Corrections for the past 11 years. Stacy absolutely loved helping others. Though she may have only given birth to three children, she played a pivotal role in raising many others as she was always known to have other children with her. It was a “well-known secret” (among the nieces and nephews, that is) that Aunty Stacy was down for just about anything; whether it was driving lessons unbeknownst to the parents or new shoes that left the parents asking, “Where’d you get those from?” And the resounding answer…”Aunty Stacy!” At any time she would give her last (as long as it didn’t take away from her children). She was an amazing provider and champion for them. If you knew Stacy, you know that she permeated compassion and love - perhaps tough love at times, but nonetheless, LOVE! She believed very strongly in going out of her way to help others, but more admirably, she practiced this with quiet discretion. No fan fair, just offering assistance however she could. She began to exhibit this gift of compassion at an early age with has become affectionately recognized as her role - the fetcher of pillow and blanket for one tired Deddy! Her overwhelming gift of servitude seemed only to develop over time. If Stacy would want you to take anything away from the life she lived, it would be to live and give fully and genuinely.
