Obituary for Mary Lee "Bic Mom" Kelley (Glover)

On the 20th day of September in the year of 1932, the Lord God blessed the earth with a heavenly angel named Mary Lee Glover who was born to the late Anna Scott Stephens and William Glover, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was blessed to have six brothers; M.C. Glover, Robert Glover, James Stephens and Hosie Lee Stephens and three sisters, Clara Hokes, Reola Hill and Reedie Sanders all from Arkansas.
Mary moved to Little Rock, Arkansas at an early age and there she met Lawrence Mason Sr. From this union two children were born. He preceded her in death. On June 15, 1960 she married William Kelley Sr. From this union six children were born. They later divorced.

With the wisdom and knowledge from the Lord above, Mary worked hard all her life; taught her children the ways of God, purchased a home, raised all of her children and was a mother to many.

She was a member of the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Topeka and later moved her membership to Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where she remained until her passing. Mother Kelley was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 102. She shared her knowledge and the Word of God to everyone she met. She taught her family and friends a lifetime of lessons, had a soft gentle spirit and was kind to everyone she met.

She was also preceded in death by her seventh child "Baby" (1963), grandson, Lawrence "Trea" Mason III (2004) and in 2009 she lost her first child, Marie "Clare" Mason. Bic Mom had been battling pneumonia and on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the age of 83, the Lord called her home to glory. She is survived by three sons, Lawrence "Mason" Mason Jr., AlFreddie "Fred" Kelley and William "Duc" Kelley Jr. all of Topeka, Kansas; four daughters, Georgia "G girl" Kelley, Kathy "Kitty" Kelley, Jacquline "Jacq" Kelley and Mary "Little Mary" Kelley all of Topeka, Kansas. She also leaves behind grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and a huge host of friends.
