Obituary for Keith Leon "Keithie" Reed

Mr. Keith "Keithie" Leon Reed, son of Mr. William T. Reed and Ms. Dorothy J. Reed, unexpectedly departed his earthly home on Saturday, October, 10, 2015 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas at the age of 43.

Keith was born on New Years Eve of 1971 in Topeka, Kansas. He was a sports fanatic, but his true passion was in music. To know him was to know that he was naturally a poet and writer. He had dreams of one day becoming a musician. However, his path led him to a job in machinery and welding. At a young age, he became a father to his first born, Jasmine Lamb and continued on to have two moire children: Christopher and Deijaun, Reed. The short time that he lived outside of Kansas was spent in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, living with his brother and very best friend, Kevin. In March of 2012, he made his first trip to New York City, fulfilling a sports fantasy of finally seeing the New York Knicks play live in Madison Square Garden.

He is remembered by his charming humor and boisterous laugh. Though, those closet to him knew him as a deep thinker. Although he endeared many struggles throughout his life, he could always be met with kind words and a smile on his face.

A son, father, grandfather, and true friend - Keith is survived by his parents, children and grandchildren; his older brothers Charles R. Jackson, Michael C. Jackson, and Kevin M. Reed; and his older sisters Gloria J. Tillman and Juanita R. Patterson.

Keith's final resting place will be at the Topeka Cemetery located at 1601 SE 10th Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66607.
