Bertha Elizabell Kizer Nelson, 88, of Lawrence passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015. She was born April 3, 1926 in Stull, Kansas , the daughter of William and Ina Kizer.

She was a member of the First Regular Missionary Baptist Church and served as a Deaconess and member of the mission Department and Sewing Circle.

She married John E. Nelson on August 7, 1950 in Lawrence, Kansas.

Survivors include her husband, John E. Nelson; two sons, Mark Nelson (jacqueline), Tim Nelson (Gretchen) both of Lawrence, Kansas ;three daughters: Teresa Denson (Ivan) of Memphis, Tennessee, Diana Brown(Rene') of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Cindy Nelson of Lawrence, Kansas: 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, one aunt, Mildred Wilkes of Ottawa, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brothers, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
